This is a heartwarming story of Katara's rescue and journey to finding her forever home. It's amazing how she overcame her difficult past and blossomed into a playful and confident dog. It's clear you both love each other very much!

Many animals can be rehabilitated with the right kind of dedication and enough time. 😊

I was touched by my fateful encounter with Takara. The two of you quickly became good friends, and Takara is happy and satisfied with her life! I'm glad I met you. You're so cute. This wonderful bond will last forever. 🎉🙏🤗🌸🌸

Thank you for sharing yours and Katara’s story. We’ve just adopted a dog and in the process of getting to know each other. We’re trying to manage separation anxiety too! 💚🐾

Thanks for reading!

My husband are planning on getting a dog soon. I can't wait! My little dog, Poppi, passed in 2022.

It's the worst. I wouldn't change a thing, though. Animals add so much to my life.

@Jennifer sorry you lost your Poppi 😞 It’s so hard when we lose a pet.

I’m very excited for your new doggie!

It is. She was sweet. It took a while to bond with her, because I inherited her from my mom. Mom never bothered to do any training, so that was a challenge, but I absolutely feel in love with that little dog a couple of years in.

I'm excited, too, but my husband isn't quite ready.

In the six years I’ve been with my husband he went from hating dogs (his words) to ready for adoption! He’s been really getting into being a pet parent and seems to be happy (I look over to see them cuddling on the sofa 🤣).

I hope your husband feels ready soon, I was glad I waited for mine to feel ready as it’s a joy to see him with our pooch 💚

He loves animals. He's just recovering from an injury and isn't ready to be around rowdy dogs. Hopefully, we can do it later this year. 🤞🤞🤞

I'm glad your husband has come around!

I can understand that. I’m recovering from a knee injury and finding it much more tiring that I thought. Albeit a good obligation to be walking even when it’s sore or I get frustrated by my limitation.

I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you 🤞🤞🤞

I honestly can’t believe he’s come around! It’s amazing, I love him more for it.

My partner loves dogs and loves mine but he had never lived with dogs before and was nervous about that. We moved in together two months ago and he's adjusted to being such a great dog dad. There's often no room on the couch for me because the two dogs are on either side of him :)

Hahaha that sounds the very same situation as me! My husband didn’t want her on the couch, within days I walk into the living room to see them snuggled on the sofa together 😆 He’s always googling the best thing for her and has been volunteering to do walks.

Sometimes the ones we have to work harder to bond with make it so much more rewarding when we do.

I knew I'd likely lose Katara at a young age so I got Bumi before then. It helped a lot to already have a second dog in the home when I lost her.

Me too! It’s a dream come true having a dog, I had them growing up but didn’t have the life till now to own my own. 🐾

Yeah. I went most of my adult life without having dogs. I missed them, but the cats sure kept me busy!

I’ve never had cats as most of my family are allergic to them. But I can see how they’d make good pets! Especially as a writer ✍️

They are my absolute favorite. Our current cat is the only one, and she's VERY spoiled. LOL!

I always had them growing up. When I moved to San Francisco, I didn't at first because of apartment life but then after almost ten years I decided that my landlord and I would have to work it out because I needed to get Katara :)

You live in San Francisco, it’s on my list of places I’d like to visit. I understand the flat living, it’s actually how I ended up with a greyhound as I researched the best dogs for flats. I initially wanted a whippet but you can’t find them for adoption so we up sized to enable adoption. Albeit we live in a house now, the through process started in a flat! 💚🐾

Believe it or not, I've heard that Great Danes can be good apartment dogs. Not if you're in an efficiency, of course.

I'd like to visit San Francisco, too.

Yep the big dogs (mine are Japanese mastiffs but Kya has a little Dane in her) work well in apartments because they don’t need a lot of exercise. So if they get out a little then they’re happy to couch most of the day.

Yay! I really enjoyed "meeting" Katara after hearing so much about how amazing she was. Bumi and Kya are so much better off for your experience with her, just as I know that Dinkles is spoiled rotten thanks to our time with Molly.
